What is Rock and Roll these days? Is there such a thing? Where are the boundaries? Are there any?

There are some songs that, when I was a kid, were rock and roll but now are soft rock – mostly rock ballads. And, of course, the term Classic Rock is attributed to different things all the time.

Maybe rock and roll isn’t rock and roll anymore. Maybe John Mayer was right when he sang, “Now the cover of the Rolling Stone, ain’t the cover of the Rolling Stone.”
