This cover is simple, but it didn’t start out that way.

Initially, it has a woman in the background, a cave, and two doorways. I had gotten as far as inking everything then I scrapped everything in the background and focused on the mole.

Sometimes, simpler is better. There are times for intriguing backgrounds and multiple characters, yet not always. It helps to know the feel of the piece. I wanted something that hinted at something else. Having too much context ruins it.
