This one was a lot of fun to do.

First and foremost is the overall theme – an old, folded poster of some random Mexican western flick from who knows when being shown, no doubt, at some independent hipster theater for the sake of experiencing something on the outskirts of common culture. The theater is probably a renovated building that used to be something completely different than a theater: a condemned old folks home, an airport hangar, an elementary school, etc. I know because I’ve been to a few.

Then there’s the content. While I’ve never actually seen any of these old Mexican western films, I see the posters. They always look like the worst movie ever. With “Mas O Menos,” I thought that perhaps I could portray a sense of intrigue and an inner voice saying, “Who knows? Maybe I’d like it!” Basically, the cocktail was one part Akira Kurasawa, one part Sergio Leone, and one part generic Mexican Western. Heck, I’d watch it!

I created the individual images in Midjourney and then took them over to Canva. It’s all a matter of layers and their transparencies. Once I had a good root poster, I added the folds and scratches and general “noise” of an aged image. Lastly, I placed it in a display box and added some shadows for depth. All in all, I’m pleased with it! Maybe I’ll sell them as actual posters one day. Maybe you’ll buy one!
